Patients with NET’s are excited to have another weapon in their cancer-fighting arsenal that equates to precision and peace of mind.įor more information about NETSPOT, call 70.The results of the phase III NETTER-1 trial, recently published in The New England Journal of Medicine, 1 have been met with great interest by clinicians who treat neuroendocrine tumors. A new radioisotope therapy drug called lutetium Lu 177 dotatate, commercially knowns as LUTATHERA®, has just been approved by the FDA. There has never been a more accurate mode for pinpointing NETs until NETSPOT.Īt Comprehensive and throughout Nevada, the patient-base for neuroendocrine tumors is requesting NETSPOT more and more. With NETSPOT, the imaging has led to increased clarity in terms of the specific tumors being treated, resulting in a change of treatment in 35 to 71 percent of cases. The challenge has been improving the screening and imaging process, which pinpoints the presence of disease beyond the original tumor. Radiopharmaceuticals, such as NETSPOT, have shown impressive impact on survival in various studies. Studies have shown that the NETSPOT imaging ultimately resulted in refined and improved treatment regimens.Ĭurrently, treatment is used to slow the growth of NETs and decrease the secretory properties of such diseases. With the gallium 68 mimicking a low dosage of somatostatin, the risks are minimal to zero. There are no serious side effects related to NETSPOT because the body creates a certain level of somatostatin already. NETSPOT provides a much clearer image and, compared to octreotide scans, is cheaper for most patients. The only tool used for identifying such tumors prior to NETSPOT was an octreotide scan, which is similar but uses a gamma camera for imaging instead of a PET. This means that everyone involved –the pharmacy attaching the dotatate molecule, the PET department and the patient – must be incredibly efficient and implement the gallium 68 essentially within minutes of the ordered time. Once the generator produces the gallium 68, it has a 68-minute half-life. As the FDA approved NETSPOT, select sites throughout the country were approved to have germanium 68/gallium 68 generators on-site, including Cardinal Health Pharmacy in Las Vegas. Gallium 68 is produced by germanium 68 / gallium 68 generators, which are approximately about the size of a large trashcan. From there, the dotatate can tell us the number of tumors, the size and where they might have metastasized. When the gallium 68 dotatate is injected in the body, it mimics somatostatin and travels to the tumors which are covered in somatostatin receptors. NETs are covered with somatostatin receptors, overproducing them compared to the rest of the body. Somatostatin is a hormone used for regulating the endocrine system, produced in the pancreas and the brain, among other locales. The cells are most commonly found in the intestines, stomach, lungs and pancreas, though they may be found in other areas of the body. Tumors that are pinpointed may be cancerous and develop in the hormone-producing cells of the body’s neuroendocrine system. This happens via the positron emission of a gallium 68 dotatate injection, an active agent for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. NETSPOT is a radioactive probe that helps track down and pinpoint NETs. The Food and Drug Administration approved NETSPOT in June 2016 and it was first utilized at Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada in August 2017. Among the latest in imaging technology that is shaping the way cancer is treated is NETSPOT. Physicians and researchers are always looking for ways to identify harmful tumors early and new technology to treat them. This number is rising with the enhancement of screening and imaging technology. Nearly 22,000 Americans are diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors each year. Patients with NET’s live for many years, but require numerous treatments that don’t always respond well to chemotherapy and radiation. NETs develop in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas and are unique because of their slow growing nature. More than 180,000 patients live with advanced stage neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). This body of research-while still not definitive-has raised concerns that some sunscreen ingredients may be causing harm. Over the past decade or so, many researchers have studied the possible impact of sunscreen ingredients on coral reefs, aquatic plants, fish, and other marine life. Here’s what we do (and don’t) know about sunscreen and marine life. “What we saw was that effects of levels were such that they were encroaching upon levels in which you see some of the higher exposures in certain types of environments.” He says that given the lack of knowledge of some of the aspects of effects and exposure of UV filters, “there is reason to urge the EPA to take a more formal look at this and address information gaps to understand things better.”įor now, though, that leaves consumers who are equally concerned about protecting their skin and the environment with some tricky choices and no definitive answer to the question of what’s safe. Menzie, PhD, chair of the report committee and a principal at Exponent, an engineering and scientific consulting firm. The report recommends that the Environmental Protection Agency do an ecological risk assessment of UV filters and that the need for such an assessment is urgent. “Risk assessment is largely about the potential that chemicals may be harmful, and the closer that exposure levels get to effects levels, you get the increased likelihood that there could be an ecological risk,” says Charles A. “If one or more were to be removed from use for reasons of concerns about the environment, its impact would potentially disrupt the availability of broad-spectrum UV coverage, because most of the current products that are marketed use more than one of the UV filters,” Cullen says. The compounds are very different, he notes, and “things that can be learned about one do not necessarily carry over to another.” The benefits these UV filters provide in terms of sunburn and skin cancer protection have to be considered as well. Cullen, MD, vice chair of the committee that produced the report and former director of the Center for Population Health Sciences at Stanford University. A new report from the nonprofit, independent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine outlines the challenges in determining the effect of the ultraviolet filters in sunscreen and other personal care products on freshwater environments and oceans and the plants, animals, and other organisms that live there. “There are many gaps in our understanding of the fate, distribution, and toxicity of the UV filters themselves, and especially when used together and in the face of other stressors on the environment, such as climate change,” says Mark S. There is also a quest that allows the character to "rebirth" into a new class with an extra abilities, additionally allowing them to wear any item level 70 and below no matter what class it belongs to. Quests are divided into categories based on a character's level and may help a player earn rare items, such as gems and weapons.įor some quests, the player is rewarded with a prize. Quests are a part of the Conquer Online game but they do not feature as prominently as in other MMORPGs such as World of Warcraft. The potency of the mentor determines the potency of the apprentice in terms, Example: If a level 130 2nd Rebirth player with 250 is the mentor to a level 118 non-Rebirth player with potency of 176 the level 118 gets 25 extra potency. If the apprentice gets enough Exp, + stones or blessing then the mentor gets a fraction of what the apprentice received. The mentor is rewarded by his apprentice's efforts in leveling, blessing, or getting + stones. Recently there was an update for mentors and apprentices, which allows players to get a mentor (Higher level player) to help them with potency, thus making the player stronger. While players may receive experience points by being powerleveled, they do not receive any skills or weapon proficiency. Virtue points are not gained if the person being powerleveled is above level 70. The amount of virtue points gained varies according to the level of the beginner - a higher level gives more VP, since it takes more time to achieve the next level. For each level the beginner gains, the team leader who meets the required conditions will receive a set amount of virtue points. Although all players can help others level, only a player above level 70 powerleveling another character at least 20 levels lower than himself can receive Virtue Points (VP) for his efforts. Furthermore, when the newer player collects the silvers which drops from the mobs, the higher player receives a small portion of this. The higher players is rewarded for this assistance by gaining a form of currency called ' virtue points' - or VPs - which can be exchanged for items from an NPC. The game system in Conquer Online has been designed to encourage higher leveled players to assist beginners in starting out. More information is available from the Conquer Online website More skills are awarded to the player who is reborn. Ī notable feature of Conquer Online is that when a player reaches the upper limits from 120 onwards, they may choose to be 'reborn', essentially starting again from level 15. The amount of experience points needed increases with each level gained, to a maximum level of 140. After a certain amount gained, the player will gain a level, allowing them to become more powerful. These are gained by attacking monsters throughout the game land. Like most MMORPG games, the Conquer Online system of leveling is through the gain of experience points. The guild controlling the pole can enter and exit through the gate and leaders of the guild may open the gate at will. Once the war has ended, the guild which last owned the pole wins and some benefits are granted to the reigning guild. When the poles life bar is empty, whichever guild dealt the most damage to the pole gains control over the castle, and must protect the doors and pole until the end of the guild war period. The attacking guild(s) must storm a castle by taking down one of two gates to get in, then deplete the hit points of the guild pole. Each guild may choose to attend the war in an attempt to capture the guild pole from the guild which currently controls it. Īnother feature of Conquer Online is the weekly server-wide guild war. They may also be ejected by the guild leader. To leave a guild, a players can just leave at will. Additionally,Guilds are often a place for players to meet and receive help, where guild funds compensate a player for a portion of the experience lost after being killed by another player. Each guild is controlled by a guild leader and a maximum of five deputy leaders. Joining a guild is free and accessible to players at all levels. I will say their service used to be great but now its just horrible.Ĭonquer Online will allow players to start their own guild for 1,000,000 silvers once they reach level 90. I know from experience because i've played since classic all the way through to mobile. This game is basically a P2P (Pay to Play). They are also known for not caring about their players and only overpricing items. The customer service is known to be the worse service ever. Conquer Online involves many typical MMORPG features, such as PvP, quests and guilds. Diagramming is a primary use for me, so it's worth spending money on a tool that I can depend upon. It bridges the gap between vector drawing apps and desktop publishing software, making it a great choice for those who need to create diagrams for a variety of purposes. It is incredibly easy to create beautiful diagrams with the app, and much easier than traditional vector drawing apps.
